UK Tier 1 Extension - while on deputation

Post by robinkurian » Mon Jun 06, 2011 5:53 pm

Hello,

I am currently in the UK on Tier 1 (General visa) and working for an Indian IT company. My base location is India and I am deputed to UK. I receive salary 'allowances' in the UK, that meets the minimum criteria required for my Tier 1 extension. My tier 1 visa is expiring in 2012.

a. Would my deputation status have an impact on Tier 1 extention? Is there a requirement that I must be on a permanent job / contract in the UK.

b. My salary statement mentions all components as allowances. I meet the minimal salary requirment for extension but would i be affected, as my salary slip only mentions allownaces, and not basic salary?

1. No.
2. Are you being paid salary in India? If yes, include them in your earnings.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

Thanks Sushdmehta

Regarding point 2, i do not get any salary in India. I get all my salary in GBP and it meets the salary point requirement. But since I'm on deputation, the salary statement mentiones variou componenets as allowances (which is included in my deputation letter). Would i able to show these allowances as salary earned in GBP?

The challenge you are going to face is to get the good points out of earnings. I remember reading that allowances can not be considered as earning. In addition as you are in UK, you will not be able to apply uplift multiplier to your India earnings. In that case unless you get paid toooooo much in india. You will struggle to accumulate good point from earnings parameter. You will just need to convert your Indian earnings into GBP currency and see how many point you can get.

However I do not know the points that you can accumulate from other headings like age, qualification etc.

Use the PBS calculator and see how you are doing on the points required for qualification.

Cheers,
Jacob
