Taxable pay in payslip

Post by jamiluddin » Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:57 pm

I will apply for Tier 1 extension in the near future. In my payslip i have Gross pay and taxable pay. my taxable pay is slightly less than Gross pay becasue the gross pay inclused non taxable essential car user payment . in home office website it is mentioned that car allowance will be counted if this is mentioed in the payslip and its in the job contract. now i want to know ,should i count the Gross pay or Taxable pay for claiming earning points.

92. If an applicant is in salaried employment, (including a Director of a company for example) we will assess the applicant’s gross salary before tax.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

This is sometimes confusing, is "gross salary before tax" is gross on which you pay tax, or before any deduction

My Gross pay includes employers NI and Employers Margin( as i get my payroll from an umbrella company.)

example below:

1.Gross Pay:.....................3600 ( as per timesheet 200 perday x 18 days)
2.Employer's NI:...............-(300)
3.Employer;s Mrgin:..........-(100)
4.Expenses:......................-(200)
5.Taxable salary:.............=3000
6.Incone tax deduction:...... -600
7.Emplyees NI deductn:...... -200
8.Net Salry:....................= 2200
9.Expense reimburse:.........+200
9.Net paid(n.sal+exp):..... =2400 (paid to bank account)

Could you please clarify which one of the above (1-9) is the previous earning that we consider for tier-1 visa.

I am sure this would clarify many confusions.
