family visitor visa for 5 years

Post by hsmp0804 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:41 am

Hello,
I have been living in UK for almost 4 years now (on Tier-1 general) and intend to apply for ILR after 5th year. I am quite qualified for ILR after 5 yrs (unless rules changes :-)
My parents have visited UK twice (once in 2010 and in 2009 summers) and now I am thinking of applying them visa for 5 years instead of 6 month.

Considering the link below I would be justifying following points for long stay visa
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... a#22856841

1) As I live in UK with my baby and wife(have my own 3 bed house in UK), my parents would like to visit UK quite often, every summer
2) They got property, car in India to manage and have sister living there, shows strong ties to India and intention to leave
3) My financial status, job is good enough, shows my stability
4) My dad's pension, other income, and money I transfer to my dad's account shows parent's financial stability.

Based on these grounds, and given the fact that though I intend to apply for ILR after a year but still have 1 yr visa left, would above points convince the ECO to give 5 yr visa?

Has anyone done this before? Please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest working up to it - try for a 2 year visa first.

Yes that's right MPH80. if I was in your shoes hsmp0804, I would request for the 2 years visitor visa first before requesting for the 5 years visa. It seems logical as it is basically about building/earning trust by sticking to the conditions of the previous visas.

A baby have to learn how to walk before he or she can actually run. So 6 month visa, and then 2 years visa and then 5 years visa and finally 10 years visa. I know people who have followed this step but if you want to still go for the 5 year visa that is really up to you. Remember if the baby try to run without first walking he or she may fall down. They may not be happy to issue 5 year visa soon after a 6 month visa.

Good luck.
