Change of Job during VISA application

I have a query and would appreciate help!

I am currently in the UK, my husband in India, and we applied 4 weeks ago for a settlement Visa for him. It is currently in processing status. However, I have been offered a job with a new company, and I am unsure whether taking it is advisable as our Visa application has all the employment info from my current company - contract etc. If I change my job, do I need to inform the Border Agency etc? I am cincerned that they will contact my current workplace and if I am not working there full time then would affect the application?
