Education points : Distance learning

Post by Hector » Sun May 14, 2006 6:35 pm

Hi All,
Can i get any points for my bachelors degree in commerce (distance learning) or does it have to be "Full time" only?
the degree certificate does not mention that its "distance learning programme".
Secondly, Is the sealed official transcript absolutely mandatory? will the Detailed marksheets be acceptable instead of the official transcripts?

looking forward to your responses.

thanks in advance

1)Your bachelor degree is valid even if gotten trough a distance learning program, provided your college or university is a "real" institution in the country where you studied. Depending the country, the minimum to get a degree is 3, 4 or 5 years. That's the requirement.

There are online institutions that what they do is pretty much "sell" a degree. The embassy will be able to determine whether or not your university is an accredited institution. Other than that, you are ok. In any case, if they don't ask you shouldn't say anything you are not being asked.

2) Most anglo an european nations issue official transcripts in a sealed enveloped, there is no other way. Yes it must be official and it must be sealed (you can include a set of transcripts mailed to you, but don't open it). However, there are countries (for example in Latin America) where the universities DO NOT issue transcripts in a sealed envelop. In that case you can request registrar to give you an envelope and have it signed and sealed by an official OR you can type a brief note or letter explaining that sealed envelopes is not customary in that country (Which by the way, the embassy already knows)

Regards...
