Schengan visa -Insurance clarification.

Hi,

I am planning to apply schengan visa for me, the initial stay to visit paris for two days, however, i am planning to visit other schengan states later point of time.

Do i need to get the insurance for the whole duration of my visa validity ? or i can buy the insurance whenever i required to travel.? I was told by someone that if i have insurance for 7 days, then i'll be provided visa for 7 days only. Is that true.?

Also its worth to check if your bank is already giving you this service. For example I am with HSBC and my service includes international travel insurance. So depending on which service you are getting, it may be included in your bank package as well.
