Tier 2 Dependant --- Can they work?

Hi

I am here on Tier 2 (ICT) visa and I've got my dependant visa processed from my company and travelled here on my company expenses, can dependant work here with that Visa ? Would there be any legal problems from my Indian employer?

my dependant has got health insurance cover from my company as well! but dependant has got an offer to work as contractor/temporary staff? can the dependant take it without any hesitation?
