hi there i am little be confused regarding my new born baby visa i am very grateful of u if u help me actually i am on hsmp right now and will apply for ILR next may 2012 i do not want to go india until i get ILR after getting ILR of me & my wife can i apply direct british citizenship without taking indian passport or indian visa for my baby if yes how long can i take indian visa for my baby except OCI to travel with us india nextyear. is that any rule that i have to take indian passport for future refrence thanks i am waiting for your reply

I would suggest it a different way.

Get your baby's Indian passport done and do not get the visa done .

After you and your wife have your ILR, you can then directly apply for british passport for your kid. Two advantages here.

1) You are safe for any urgent requirement for travel to India.

2)If you directly have British passport without Indian passport, your child will only be eligible for PIO. which is valid for 10-15 years(not sure about exact validity) but if you have Indian passport(Indian Citizen)and then have a british passport you will get the OCI.

Those are my 2 cents

Register baby before applying for British passport (if baby born in the UK before a parent has ILR).
