Applied for ILR for spouse - 2 months turnaround time

Post by fhumbert » Mon Jul 04, 2011 4:47 pm

Hi,
I wanted to share my experience with other member.
My wife applied for ILR on 5 May 2011.
2 weeks later, we received the acknowledgement letter from the Border Agency.
And last Saturday (2nd July), she received her passport back with the ILR vignette in it.

So the turnaround time was just under 2 months.

She no longer has an ID card for foreign nationals

Post by fhumbert » Thu Jul 07, 2011 8:33 am

Hi again,

I forgot to mention that ILR does not come with an ID card for foreign nationals anymore unlike the spouse visa.

Of course this is good news because it means that you won't have to worry about losing the card.

It begs the question as to why the IDFN was introduced in the first place if it wasn't going to be implemented in the long term.
