Just seen this on sky news and the Daily Telegraph

Foreign brides and grooms will have to wait five years before gaining full access to benefits under plans to be unveiled by the Government today.

Anybody have any thoughts on this

Ministers want to more than double the time a foreign spouse must spend in the UK before being granted settlement, from two to five years, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

The move will put foreign partners on a par with other migrants, who must wait five years before being eligible for settlement.

The proposed change is designed to ensure migrant partners are fully integrated into British society before being given permanent residence and full access to benefits.

It is part of a crackdown on the family visa route to be unveiled by the Home Office today as it looks to cut overall net migration to the “tens of thousandsâ€

Any Ideas when the new Rules will applied,

Do you think it will affect current applications or just new applications about the new rules applied.
