renew tier 1 visa. Extension would be 2 or 3 years

Hi,
I got Tier 1 visa for three year when I had applied in 2009. After that policy changed and Tier 1 visa issued only for 2 year.

Just want to know, what would be the validity period (2 years or 3 years) when I apply for extension ?

your visa expiry date is your validity period. you can extend once your visa expires.
