I am student visa :Documents for Spouse Visa

Post by anjum70 » Thu Jun 15, 2006 3:19 pm

Hi ,
I am doing 1st year Phd in aeronautical engineering (i have got 3 and half years visa) and currently on student visa(i am an indian national) and me and my fiancee(Indian Nationality) are going to get married end of this year.My question is

1. What finanical and other documents will i require to get her visa, as i am on student visa. But my brother is manger(earning 20k/annum) in london and my parents are quite finacially strong and myself working 15-18 hours a week part time . So can she show my brother and my parents bank statements as they can support us for living and fininacal expenses? or

2.Should i also show my bank statements and put money from my parents in my bank account to show that i am getting money from my parents (as when i extended my student visa i showed my brother and my parents bank statements)and salary slips for part-time job?

3. How long will it take her to get permanent residency on spouse visa as i am on student visa?

Any information will be of great help

Looking Forward to hear from you.

Thanking You,

Anjum.

Since neither of you have UK nationality, NEITHER of you qualify for a UK spouse visa.
Student visa does NOT equal permanent resident status.
well thats as far as i know anyways.
not trying to be rude just trying to be clear and precise

Technically British nationality is not needed, but either that or ILR status is.

However it is clear, I think, that the OP is enquiring about getting a dependant visa for his wife once the marriage has happened, and I think answers should be on that basis.

anjum70, this sort of matter has come up on this Board many times before. Have a good read of previous posts.

Basically what you need to prove is that you and your wife are able to live here without recourse to public funds. The things to prove would probably be

1) your status, a letter from your uni, or from your professor
2) your accomodation details, your let contract and / or any extention that you got for your house / flat
3) your finances, bank statements for last three to six months
4) marriage certificate and some marriage photos.

Others will probably add in the list but these are the things that come to mind.

Best of luck
