Passport missed in the postal delivery

Post by karthikeya9 » Fri Aug 19, 2011 4:14 pm

Hello Friends,

I need some advice/information about my situation. I have applied for my T1 (G) Extension and today morning I have received my BRP card (Myself + 2dep.) after 1 hrs I have received my documents along with Passports, but after opening the cover I have realised that my passport is missing. I called UKBA and reported it they told that they have recorded my complaint and will get back to me in 14 days...Royalmail just says claim the loss..:-(

Now if UKBA confirm that they are not able to trace my passport, I need to apply for new passport and then what is the process, do I need to re-apply for my BRP or what is the situation??? Also if I have to re-apply then should I also include my dependants as well?? Both the dep. passports are fine and the BRP cards are fine as well...Please can somebody help me on this situation.

Thanks,
Karthik

I have sent
2 Passports (Old+New) -->Myself
1 Passport --> Spouse
1 Passport -> Child

I have received only 2 belonging to Spouse & Child. My passports are missed.

This is a one-off case. I am still hopeful that you'll get your passport but if you don't, I don't think you 'll lose much except few leaves (visits to your embassy and UKBA office) and peace of mind for untill all is back on track.

It's strange that yours was the only passport missing - did the envelope look like it had been tampered with? One the covering letter does it say how many passports are enclosed?

Wait and see what UKBA and Royal Mail come back with.

If you have to replace your passport then no you don't need to replace your BRP.

Covering letter states that all the passports which are submitted are enclosed.

The cover was completely torn and was tied up with a rubber band when it was handed over to me, I checked with Royal Mail local delivery point today they said nobody has reported any items which were found which are not associated with any postage. Also UKBA replied to me to wait for 14 days, and not to report any loss of passport in the police station until 14 days when I called them up. Worst case scenario if I have to get a new passport then as per your statement I don't need to file a TOC form with the UKBA? is my understanding correct? if not then do I need to do it for the entire family again as I am the main applicant?

No you don't need to do a transfer of conditions because there are no conditions to transfer. You havoc a BRP which states your leave and conditions. All you need to do once the 14 days are up is report the passport stolen and then apply for a new one.

Thanks for your reply, even I was thinking of the same, but one question around the situation is how the BRP card is associated to the new passport? will there be any? Also I am changing my current house address as I have recenlty got a new job in another location so if I send a change of circumstances form filled up with my new passport number with the new address will that be fine?

Once again thanks for your response.

Karthik

So, if I travel outside the country there will not be a problem with the new passport? and is it like they will only check the BRP card and stamp the passport for the port of entry and date? Also not sure if this will have some problems for my next extension / ILR? as the previous entries will not be available in the new passport.

Sorry for so many queries, but hope you can understand my situation and what I am going through right now.

Thanks,
Karthik

I have already answered this. There will be no problem travelling will the new passport.

Regarding applying for ilr-hopefully you have copies of your old passport and visa but if not apply for your subject access request before applying for ilr.

Thanks Greenie, you have really been very helpful to me. Well I don't have the copies of my passport for couple of entries, but anyways SAR will help. Thanks once again for being patient and helpful.

So the wait is on for me now fingers crossed.

Karthik
