Death Certificate for Unmarried Partner

Post by minnadbs » Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:21 pm

When applying as Unmarried partner [ FLR(M) ] does a widower applicant has to provide death certificate of 1st wife or is it applicable only to those who are using FLR(M) for spouse / civil partnership?

Can someone please clarify the rule to me.

Thank you in advance.

Such an applicant is applying on the basis that they are unmarried to their current partner. Their marital status is irrelevant. Accordingly I can see no reason why a death certificate of a former spouse is required.

Death certificate would satisfy 295D(ii).

Vinny, you are right, and the death certificate of the ex-spouse is of course the best proof that the former relationship has ended.
