Time outside UK for Settlement Visa as a dependent

My wife has Tier 1 dependent visa which is due to expire on 29/4/2012.
She has already had a continuous stay in the UK for two and half years.
We will be eligible to apply for UK Settlement next year.

but If she leaves UK now for a year or half for work reasons, when she comes back, is she still eligible to apply for UK settlement as my dependent?
