After MN(1) - getting child passport abroad

Post by stephno » Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:45 pm

We are awaiting MN(1) citizenship certificate for our UK born son (our ILR granted July).

If we take him abroad (to New Zealand) for a long holiday, can we apply for his British Passport there? He can leave the country on his NZ passport, but can't get back until we have Br passport.

MN(1) seems to be taking so long now. It took a month for them to take payment. Unsure how long it will be for certificate to be received and want to book holiday so may not have time to get passport here.

Thank you.

He may use his registration certificate to apply for a British passport.

Thank you. I had looked into it briefly and thought that was the case, but wanted to post in case I had missed some regulation that would make it impossible or difficult.
