Spouse Visa - Moved to British Overseas Territory

Post by Kapie » Thu Sep 08, 2011 10:27 pm

Hi,

I was granted a Spouse visa for the UK at the start of last year. I lived in the UK for 12 months and then moved to the Cayman Islands which is a British Overseas Territory. Am i able to apply for ILR at the beggining of next year based on me living in a British Overseas Territory or do i end up voiding my Spouse Visa for being out of the UK for more than 6 months?

I have been in the Cayman Islands for 5.5 months now and have taken a 2 week trip back to the UK about 3 months ago.

Thanks,

Why are you in Cayman (work or merely inclination) and is your partner with you? Do you intend to go back to the UK soon on a permanent basis?

It's not part of the UK so unless there are good answers to those questions you may not be eligible for ILR.
