Is my EEA 2 Residence Card still valid?

Hi Guys

I got my residence card through marriage to an Italian national last year and is expired in 2015. Recently, I have been successfully granted ILR under UK 10 year long residence. Now, I am a bit confused that if my residence card is still valid until 2015? There was nothing in my passport on the endorsement letter mentioning about this.

Anyone has same situation as me? If Residence Card is automatically invalid,I will apply for Schengen visa to EU countries;Otherwise, it could save lots of time.

Your RC only confirms your rights to reside in the UK as the family member of a EU/EEA/EFTA national. It is valid for as long as your status remains as such and your EU spouse is a qualified person.

You have also acquired ILR in your own right under the UK immigration rules and I do not see why this as well as your RC should not be valid.

I agree. There is nothing which would particularly invalidate your ILR because of your Residence Card. It is in fact neat to see an example of somebody with both.

I guess that anyone with ILR who marries an EU citizen could then apply for a Residence Card to facilitate visa free travel in Europe and to Ireland. It might be worth it in some cases.

Note on year after you got ILR, you can apply for naturalization as a British citizen (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_na ... ralisation )

when you get you ilr throught 10 years did the immigration ask you your wife document and her pay slips etc...

If you meet the residence requirements, then you can apply now for naturalization as a British Citizenship.

darlene82328, you need to have your ILR for at least one year before applying for Naturalisation. The only exception would be if your spouse was British, but you tell us she is Italian.
