Overstaying Invitation Letter Dates

My Query is the possible effects if you have been granted a 6 month tourist visa based on a visit for 5 days and you overstay this by 2 months then would there be any negative effects for the future.

- Would this affect a spouse visa in the future?

This is based on someone from Serbia.

Please let me know.

One doesn't "overstay" if he/she extends his stay in UK (than initially intended) during the validity of visitor visa .
