Restriction for maximum stay period out of UK after ILR

I just want to confirm that after ILR , IF one does not want to go for British Residency . then if there is any restriction in maximum time limit for going and living out of UK .

The Home Office's contention is that the UK must be your normal place of abode. More than 2 years continuous absence is likely to cause problems, and could see your ILR revoked unless there is a truly good reason.

If you dont have dual-citizenship problems with your current nationality, why not just apply for citizenship? You would then have absolutely no restrictions or time limits.
