Teir 1Extension applying date issue.

Hi there,

I would like to ask one question regarding tier 1 extension. The question is if it is must to apply exactly a day before of visa expiry so that they cant start visa before the expiry date? I mean if I apply a week before lets say 1 December 2011 and actual expiry date is 5 December 2011, then they will extend it from 1 Dec for another 2 years not from 5 December that mean at the end of 2 years I will not be able to show 5 years and wont be eligible for indefinite stay either, is that right?

Please clarify.
