Can Tier2 be applied from UK with COS

Post by uk.workpermit123 » Thu Oct 20, 2011 7:56 pm

Hi,

I have some basic queries on UK Immigration for Skilled Workers.

1) Can someone apply for an Individual Visa under Tier2 (as Tier1 was there) being in UK for a time period of 6 months with COS from Indian Employer? In case Yes, Is it something equivalent to previously existing Tier1 for Highly Skilled? Please let me know.

2) Also, i found some where, for that 20k should be income. Should that be annual or monthly income?

Thanks,

Can you please explain what you are trying to say / ask - at least I cannot make a head or tail out of this sentence.

Are you saying that:
1. You have been in the UK (or will be arriving shortly) for 6 months as a Tier 2 migrant, sponsored by an Indian employer?
And asking:
1. If it will be possible for you to apply for Tier 2 leave from within the UK .. to extend your stay in the UK (with the same or a new employer)?

Under which sub-category of Tier 2 will you be entering (or have entered) UK - Tier 2 (General) or Tier 2 (ICT)?

It is Tier 2 (ICT).

Then you cannot change employers within the UK. If you wish to join a new employer then the new employer will have to issue you a Restricted CoS (RCoS) and you'll need to make an entry clearance application from outside the UK.

I believe there may also be a "cooling-off" period involved .... that you cannot (re)apply for entry clearance for a certain period of time .... but I am not sure if it applies to Tier 1 (ICT) -> Tier 2 (General) change or if it is only applicable to those (re)entering UK (again) as Tier 2 (ICT) migrants.

So, any other way to get a work permit for UK from inside or outside UK?
In short, I am looking for an way equivalent
to Tier1 for Highly Skilled Migrant, if available at today's date.
Thanks.

There's no equivalent to Tier 1 (General).

But there are other PBS categories that one doesn't need sponsorship to apply under (but loads of money and in one case loads of intelligence):

High-value migrants
1. Tier 1 (Investor).
2. Tier 1 (Entrepreneur).
3. Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent).
