Asylum seeker - Successful Spouse visa application

Post by Destiny08 » Mon Nov 07, 2011 9:34 am

Ok so! I know there are a few of these posts already, but i thought I'd give my story too!

I was an asylum seeker in the UK at the beginning of this year, and was declined. I was sent back to my home country of South Africa when I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter, and engaged to a British Citizen because I was under the required age of 21. So! 6 months later, the day before my 21st birthday, I applied for my visa! and now, 5 working days later, I have just received it!

these are the documents I had in my file.

Application forms and Sponsor letter
-Application forms
- letter from my husband

Passports and ID
-description of section
-my passport and photocopy
-my ID book and photocopy
-my asylum application registration card and photocopy
-asylum case immigration factual summary and photocopy
-husband's passport copy
-husbands adoption certificate photocopy

Our relationship
-description of section
-proof of relationship (this contained photos, emails, printouts of my email inbox, letters from the judge/immigration officer who handled my asylum case)
-original marriage certificate and photocopy
-daughter's birth certificate photocopy

our home
-description of section
-letter from landord
-photographs of house

education, employment and financial
-description of section
-high school diploma
-teaching certificate
-IELTS certificate
-reference from previous employer and photocopy
-spouse's employment details
-bank letter
-6 months bank statement
-6 months pay slips

previous asylum case information
-description of section
-immigration factual summary photocopy
-photocopy of case information and reasons for refusal
-appeal information and reasons for refusal and photocopy
-full original case information

so there's my story! it took 6 months overall waiting for me to turn 21. i had my baby here and when she was 2 weeks old her dad flew out to south africa to meet her/accept paternity/marry me!
from the time i submitted my visa application until the time i received it, it took 5 working days, and 10 days total :)[/b]
