maintenance fund query on spouse visa from bangladesh

Post by tcpip_helper » Tue Nov 08, 2011 12:10 am

hi,

i am asking this question on behalf of my friend, she is british national and want to sponsor her husband who is in bangladesh. i was going through ukba website and compiled the following informaiton,

ielts will be required to fullfill english language requirements.
VAF4A form will be used by her husband in bangladesh for visa application.
she as a sponser needs to show her job proof and some funds in her bank account ( how much funds are enough?).
marrige proof will be required like marriage certificate and pictures etc.
accomodation proof will be required and as show own a house, she can show her mortgage documents + utility bills etc.
anything else?

can someone please clarify the maintenance fund rule like how much and for how long she needs to show funds in her bank account as sponsor. on ukba website link below they say they need to show the funds for 27 months if application is to be filled outside uk which is the case here, they called it probationary period but they didnt mention any figure here.
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... intenance/

i'd be really gratefull if someone can post a quick reply on maintenance fund querey and if i missed any document required with the appicaiton please mention that as well.

many thanks

There is no set amount that you have to show in your bank. They will judge the application on the basis of the income that you have coming in, how secure that income is and that you will have to have at least around £105 left per week for a couple to live on after you have paid rent/mortgage etc.

If you have any savings in your account, that would be beneficial to the application

thanks for ur reply but please see the link below

i am getting confused with their 27 month rule, can you please elaborate a bit more, roughly how much money is enough to cover 27 month if she has an income of roughly £1200 after tax each month.

thanks

The 24/27 months means you will not be able to claim benefits for your spouse, therefore you should be able to support them with your earnings. You need around £105 per week after mortgage/rent/bills etc for a coup;e to live on.

So you should need to know that you have £420 leftover out of your £1200 pcm salary
