Is it wise making first port of entry in UK after 18months

Post by gotovamsee » Sun Nov 13, 2011 9:53 pm

After receiving my T1 general visa on May 2010, I had to postpone my travel to UK until today. Due to financial improvement now I decide to go together with my wife and infant son by applying their dependent visa.

Expert comments required on

> Is it wise decision to plan for UK now after wasting 18months of VISA period and now spending (1600*2) for application considering the recession hitting hard in Europe?

> Does my wife has bleak chances to get dependent visa due to discontinuation of T1-G visa?

> How soon can she get the VISA and for how long?

> Do we still have fair chances of getting visa extension assuming that we get to work in UK from April 2012?

Hi,

I am in same situation like you. I have only 10 more months of visa validity. But have the confidence that i can earn the required amount for my visa extension. But if somebody could answer the questions it will be of real great help in taking the decisions.

Thanks
Krishna

There should be no issues in getting a dependent visa. Dependent visas are business as usual, no issues.

Visa extensions depend on earnings, so as long as you earn the required amount, you should have no issues.

In terms of the question about being a waste of money, well, it would be if you get here and don't earn the minimum required for extension. Things are tough out there (I was also of the opinion, "how hard could it be", but I see that it's not that easy for job seekers). You will be in an even more difficult position in that when looking for a job, you only have limited time left on your visa. That puts a lot of potential employers off, regardless of the fact that you can extend easily.

Good luck.

This is an invaluable comment to keep in mind, I like it.
