Tier 2 dependent query

Post by ggeegg » Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:08 pm

Hello everyone,

My partner is living outside UK at the moment and I am planning to get married next year. In the interim I would like to prepare ahead of my partner's Tier 2 dependent application and was wondering if you can provide me with the following answers.

1. How long does the application take ?
2. What documents are required for married partner - she is my wife.
3. How much funds requirement I have to show ?
4. We will be getting married in court as well - are such documents valid to support the application if not then which ones are
5. Any thing you would like to share of your experiences

I thank you all for taking time to reply,

Your help and guidance is much appreciated

Processing times.

Explained in the policy guidance (don't use the form given on that webpage, but use the one given here).

What "such documents" will the court issue? Answer will depend on your response.

Dear Mr. Mehta,

I do thank you for your time.

My plan is to get married in the court first which will give us a registered marriage certificate. What my plan is to do this court marriage first and have the application submitted to UKBA in New Delhi. However, the actual wedding will be an indian ceremony which will be at a later date which we can wait for after wedding. It just saves both of us time so we can both will be able to come together to UK and saves me to have to go back again.

I hope you understand my point.

Needless to say 'marriage certificate' is acceptable document?

Thank you for sharing the links, I found them immensely useful.

Thank you for your time, I look forward for your response.

Remove the question mark from the statement and you have your answer! The only acceptable evidence of marriage is a marriage certificate.
