UKBA lost my passport

Post by jamborta » Tue Nov 29, 2011 2:39 pm

Hi,
I sent my EEA2 application to UKBA two weeks ago, Royal Mail confirmed delivery on the next day. Now I tried to contact them to ask my passport back, and they are saying they don't have it. Not sure what to do, it seems they won't admit they lost it internally - even sent proof of delivery to them, but they just keep saying it is not there!

have they received the rest of the application documents?

Have your MP's consituency office contact UKBA.

If that does not work, see http://eumovement.wordpress.com/eu-coun ... d-kingdom/ for complaints and compensation guidelines.

thank you for the reply. I think they lost the whole application, but it seems that they person I am in contact with is not admitting they lost it. Here is the last email I received:
I am sorry to inform you that there is still no indication of the receipt of your documents within our office. I have also carried out a search on the details you gave me including your name and date of birth, but this is not having any success either.

Thanks. I contacted my MP - no reply.
And filled in a complaint form. But still nothing.
I already lost one ticket we booked for this week, and next week we wanted to go home for Christmas. Not sure what else I could do to make them sort this out.

You MP has not replied at all? Maybe resend.

I would send a compensation request to UKBA for the ticket you just missed. And ask for the passport back again.

Ye, it was signed for. I got the signature from Royal Mail and sent it to them, too.

UKBA miraculously found our application yesterday and returned it back in one day along with the actually residence cards. I was really surprised when I opened the envelope. In this case, this turned out to be all good.

When they mess up like this, I think they usually prioritize the processing of the RC. Good news!

Hi Jamborta,
can I ask you an information?
When you call the HO to get your passport back which reason did you give to them?Just that You have to travel?
Did they ask you some kind of proof of the reason?

My husband is waiting for is RC and I was really hoping he will get in time to go Italy for Christmas but nothing still arrive.
I was wondering if we should ask his passport back, maybe they will send with the Rc as they did for you but I don't know if they will accept the reason"I would like to spend Christmas at home"!

Thanks for your help!

You do not need to give a reason.

If you ask for the passport back on Monday, it is unclear if you would get it back in time for Christmas travel. I doubt you would.

I know is very difficult, and they could send back without RC...
but at least we tried!
I was worried about the reason.

Thanks!

I just told them that we needed to travel...

Hope you'll get them back on time.
