Post by pateketu » Tue Aug 01, 2006 7:05 am

Lately I have seen lot of people applying from USA may be most of them are stuck in greencard mess in US :? So I thought I would start a thread to track approvals/rejections especially for people applying from US.

Even I am planning to apply from US. But I am still in the initial stages so I guess I will take some time to get everything ready.

Job offer/ Interview needed?

Post by pritamr » Wed Aug 02, 2006 9:42 pm

Do you need to have a job offer or interview invitation while filling the application?

How do you prove that you can get job in UK?

I am a Software Developer in NY. Please advise.

I far as I know, print out and include ads of job postings from websites. The jobs should match your skills closely as indicated by the letters you receive from your ex-employers describing your job duties.

You don't need to, Just the job postings from site such as Reed.Co.uk though I have few interview invitations that I am submitting.

Hi pateketu,

How did you get interview invitations when you're still in US? Did the UK companies actually called you from there and did the phone interview?

To all,

Here's my timeline:
Application received: 07/31/06 (DHL delivery tracking)
CC charged: 08/01/06

Waiting for reference number now.

Yes,

Also it is a good idea to get Vonage or any VOIP phone and a UK virtual number. Vonage only costs $5/month for a UK virtual number.

Though I have US address on my resume/CV having a UK number helps to atleast get that first call!

I am on EAD. I started my US GC process in 2001. The wait is never ending. By my estimation, my GC will only become current in 2008 or so.

I'm on H1B. My employer wanted to file for GC last year and I said no as I didn't want to continue. But since they are non-profit org I got stuck in quota/non-quota loop and could not transfer even after getting a job as H1B got over. Sick of this whole loop and no intention of waitin 5-6 yrs for GC.

I have a question though - For my salary, I'm attaching my paystubs for last 12 months. Also my employer letter states my earnings for last year and year-to-date for this one.

Although, my paystubs are original which I get every time but they are black&white and looks like an A-4 paper. They are very detailed and with logo but not colored. :S I know trivial (or not??) but does it matter?

Also, since I'm a bit worried about this, I am attaching my bank statements for last 12 months as well but I don't have original statements for all the months. I asked bank and they said they can't give me original (i mean on the better paper like original statement) but only copy. Will print-out of my statements work (as it says original only)?

I am done with all the paper work except for this one thing. Then need to write a cover letter, send it all, and wait with fingers crossed. :|

Please help!

Oh and I'll also be sending my W2 from last year but it shows a different amount than my employer letter, as funnily my employer as included few of my business trip re-imbursements in the earnings.

Incidentally, are any of you guys with MS degree sending your bachelors degree as well?

So what are you doing for the income proof? This is what I have:
- Employer letter stating my last years salary and this years to date
- W2
- Pay stubs (original but black & white. is it a problem?)
- Bank Statements (all are NOT original. Some are printouts of e-statements)

Is this ok? Please tell as I wish to send the app ASAP.

Here's what I have send:

-- W2
-- Electronic Paystubs printed on official company letter head
-- Letter from employer showing breakdown of salary for past one yer
-- Couple of bank statements showing the direct deposit of salary twice a month

regarding the paystubs it should be fine as you are showing bankstatements and w2 plus employer's letter, but at the end of the day case work decideds what he/she likes
