Chid born in India to Father (who was naturalised as BC)

Post by vermarohit » Mon Dec 19, 2011 4:28 am

Hi Guyz,

Hopefully someone can help here about the process.

Father, Born in India & Naturalised as BC in 2009 and currently on PIO in India
Mother, Born in India and hold a PR
Child, Born in India in 2011

Can I apply directly for my child a British passport? Do I have to register with FCO before I apply for British passport?

Process for applying British passport in India.

I presume, I will need a PIO card for the child to stay in India.

Cheers.

If a child was born overseas after a parent's naturalisation, then child is British by descent (2(1)(a)). Child may register and/or apply for a British passport.
