Anyone apply in November and get their documents back yet?

Post by Deepscream » Tue Dec 20, 2011 8:08 pm

Hi all, the title says it all. Has anyone who applied at the beginning of November/end of October received their documents back yet? Or is it a given that they'll send the documents after New Years?

What date did you give biometrics as this is the date you need to go by?

Hi, I gave it on the 18th of November via the post office, if that makes any difference.

Dear Deepscream,

I am on the same boat. applied for tier 4 on 21st October by post, and got the biometric done on 22nd November. Nothing heard/received from UKBA yet. being anxious, i even sent UKBA a fax on 19th December. Obviously, they haven't yet replied to the fax and who knows whether they will ever reply! I have seen people receiving their passport/documents back within a week after the biometric, and i am really stressed now. I don't worry whether they have issued me a visa, but i worry whether they have lost my documents! as we all know, this isn't something unusual with UKBA. keep me updated about your documents, so will i.

it usually takes around 4 weeks from biometrics, but has slowed down slightly, if I were you I would expect a decision now in the new year and if you get one before, it's a bonus.

Once again, thanks for your reply! I don't care if they take long as long as they don't loose my documents. they should at least reply to my fax and say my application is still being processed. but you know, it's all inefficient bureaucracy. they should be more caring as they don't process the application for free! I will wait until 13th of January. if I don't receive anything by then, they will have to answer to the local MP.

4 weeks is their target for 75% of cases, so applications can and do take longer than that. Your MP is unlikely to get much out of them if them in the middle of Jan but you could try. I would be surprised if you r'd a reply to your fax.

Thanks for the replies Greenie, really helped in calming the nerves

@members: Yea, I'll definitely let you know when I get my documents and I wouldn't worry about them losing your documents if you've received all the other letters so far i.e. acknowlegdment letter, biometric invite...
Its just that the stress level is always high since there is no predictability on when we'll get our passports back.
But if anyone out there has received their documents then just let us know on this thread

Deepscream and Greenie,

I have received my Biometric Residence Permit today (issued on 20/12/11) :P But I haven't received my passport or other documents, is that normal?

Thanks Greenie! I thought it is normal to have the passport and documents followed by the delivery of BRP card.

not necessarily - particularly as post is slower at the moment and also relies on the UKBA post room getting themselves in gear. In my experiene the BRP arrives first more often than not.

Got passport and other documents and letter - Waiting Visa

Post by djbriza » Tue Jan 03, 2012 10:01 am

Hello everyone, good morning.

This morning I received all the papers and documents with the letter saying I got the visa and that I have to wait now for the visa to arrive.

however I need to travel tonight outside the country and I'm wondering if I can do this since my visa is not with me, even though on the letter from UKBA it tells me I will receive the VISA.

Anyone knows about this scenario and if not how can I confirm this? I need to know this ASAP - thank you so much.

if you are travelling outside the UK, you will need your visa on your return to the UK. You won't be able to satisfy the immigration authority only with this letter.

VISA NOT ARRIVED . Its been long

Post by applelover » Sat Jan 07, 2012 10:43 pm

Hi
I applied for Tier 4 Student visa from a HIGHLY Trusted college on 14th Oct 2011.The money was deducted on 19th oct 2011 , biomatric letter received on 30oct and biomatrics was done through post office on 2nd Nov 2011.

Since then i have not heard anything from home office .I have to go back to my country for something important . I called home-office but they said they cannot do anything unless its more than 6 months. Anyone else having the same problem? anyone can help what to do to rapid the process up .

thank you

You must be joking!. The usual time the university says is 14 weeks after biometrics.

I am not joking. 4 weeks is the usual time. After 14 weeks you can chase the application.
