Reference Number Help?

I currently have a tier 4 student visa and am in the process making my application for a post-study work visa. (I am from the US)

On the application form it says;

'Please enter the reference number on the entry clearance or visa which can be found in the applicants passport or travel document'

Does anyone know definitely which number this refers to on the entry clearance/student visa document as a web search has come up with a lot of conflicting answers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's the VAF number. Usually on the top right of the visa
