What is the Visa stamping date (I.e. start date) on your Tier 1 visa?

as long as you submitted your Tier-1 application before the expiry of your original HSMP visa, it not your problem anymore.

Agree with linkers ... If you made your application for extension while your current visa was still valid, you dont need to worry about the gaps between the visa stamps ...
This is also true incases where there has been a rejection and appeal has been allowed which sometimes give a gap of over 6 months. So as long as you made you application in time, you are safe ...

Biometrics for Tier-1 are not needed at the moment but from 29th of Feb 2012, UKBA is introducing biometrics for all ILR applications.
