Is a "National Registration Number" + 1939 Record

Post by hopefloats » Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:48 pm

Hi there,

Someone on one of these forums told me my mum may have right of abode in the UK because she lived in England for longer than 5 consecutive years before 1949.

They ask for Passport, UK ID or Certificate of Entitlement with the application. My mum doesn't have any of these as it was so long ago, and she was a child. However, because it was during the war, they all had Identity books.

We now have, from the NHS, a copy of the 1939 record of my mum's identity book, which states her name, date of birth, address at the time, "Occupation: In school", and her National Registration Number.

It also states: "Registered at Congleton 29th September 1939
Registered at Congleton - 6th January 1945
Embarked overseas 30th October 1947"

Would Home Affairs accept this as proof for Right of Abode?

Thanks in advance.
