dependent job & extension

Dear Members,
i am now stuck at a point where i need an urgent help.
1- I want to know, if i can employ my wife? and i would not count her in the extension then?
2- i am going to do a partnership with my wife or a sole trading in UK, does it make any problem at the time of extension?
