ILR - what do you think, do I have any chance?

Post by Rosaaa » Tue Feb 14, 2012 12:59 am

Hi everyone,

I have just extended my Tier 1 General visa for another 2 years but in 2 weeks time I will possibly qualify for ILR. Previously I had WP for 2 years and Tier 1 for 3 years.
I worked for one company until 3 months ago when I became a consultant - no issues there as I am doing ok.
I have never had a single absence of 90+ days, but the total number of days spent outside the uk exceeds 180 by a large number.
However, I was continuously employed until 3 months ago and have never had an unpaid absence. Since than I did not have many absences.
When I was employed I used to work long hours and do field trips for which I was getting paid leave. I was doing a PHD back in my country so every free time I was using to study for the degree which I eventually had to give up for a few reasons.

From my ex employer I can get a letter to confirm continuous employment and that I never took unpaid leave (they would not give a break-down of all the absences because they do not care any more since I left). I can also have documents to confirm my PHD studies.

I don't have any criminal record and there are no other limiting circumstances... I have more than enough points etc.

Any advice will be very appreciated, especially form experienced members... but I did not start the topic to be told to find a lawyer. I may do, but not any lawyer...

Many thanks in advance,
Rosa
