On what basis is going to get rejected?
If you are going for extension and meet all the requirements then you will get it..there is no way it will be rejected..

yes, Its true if we meet all criteria, we should get it.

One of my friend got it rejected, the reason given to him was about bank rejected payment, But It was during initial application. He was given 1 month notice to leave the country or go for appeal.

All I want to understand, what are options, if worst happens?

I believe your friend would have applied using a Debit / Credit card for payment. In such cases there is a limit on the transaction amount, the best thing to do is to call your bank and get the limit removed or raised higher in excess of £5000.

It would be easier if you are applying through PEO, where you can pay by chip and pin card. You can also choose to pay by cheque or Postal Order if you are posting your application.

The rejection letter would list your options, for appeal or re-application. In any case you have 28 days time to appeal / re-apply(as an over stayer in case your visa expires by then) / leave the country.

***Seniors plz comment.

What happens in case ur using ur chip and pin card at the PEO appointment and the banks fraud system rejects the transaction. Can you use some other card at that time?

Generally that doesn't happen as the transaction limit using a chip and pin system is higher and there shouldn't be any issue with it. Why not check with your bank??

The fraud system always check for abnormality of the transactions..if u always do transactions worth £1k or less for a year and suddenly u do a transaction of £3k it rejects the transaction because it thinks it is a fraudulent transaction. Even though u call the bank and tell them ur going to make a transaction of 3k the fraud system can decline the transaction because it is automated system. it works on some probabilities of the ups and downs of ur spending..But these days most banks promise that it will go thru but u cant be 100% sure..

The above is an example

And that example is vague because this system may be automated but if you get the transaction limit raised, there won't be any issue.

My current limit is £30,000 per transaction, either using card number and CVV or chip and pin.

What I did is, I tried transferring £5000 to my betting account and the transaction was blocked as expected. I called the bank and asked them to raise the limit and hence I have the higher transaction limit now.

Yes ... this is true for debit cards only. I cannot say for sure if this holds true for Credit Cards.

Regarding Credit Cards, I talked to my bank and they told me that
"I can do the transaction upto the Available Credit Limit on my Credit Card in a single transaction"
