PSW refused due to City and Guilds certificate

Post by WFC2102 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 4:20 pm

Hi all,

I have just found out my PSW application was denied because my pgde is from City and Guilds. I know of just one student who used this diploma and were successful.
I have been given right of appeal. Can anyone give any help on my case?

Applied: 7/11/2011
denied: 24/02/2012
Pgde: Diploma in Teaching n the Lifelong Learning Sector
awarded by: City and Guilds

Any help will be appreciated. Also has any one had any success with a case like this?

Is it a Professional Graduate diploma in education from Scotland There is no other type of PGDE issued inside the UK.

Thanks Lucapooka for your reply. I seem to have confused the issue. My college is equating my DTLLS certificate awarded by City and Guilds to a PGCE. This was on the letter I submitted to the HO. But then I really want to know if anyone has had any experience with this issue.

Now you are saying PGCE (your original post cited PGDE) but it does not matter. Only those types of qualifications specifically named in the guidance are acceptable. Unlike Tier 1 (G) there is no degree-equivalency program that includes other qualifications in the PSW scheme.
