One letter missing in middle name of passport

My sister wants to visit me in the UK in May on a family visitor visa. The problem is that on her passport there is one letter missing in her middle name. All other supporting documents i.e. bank statements and employment documents has got her name correctly. Is it ok to sumbit an affidavit to the visa officer with an application citing the mistake and requesting him to issue a visa? Please advice.

If she is Indian just get the passport office to put an amendment in the passport . Will be better in the long run .
